“Sauber Junior Team by Charouz competitor will reset goals for weekend”
May 10, 2019 – Competing at the 4.655-kilometer-long Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Spain American driver Juan Manuel Correa will have to drive forward in tomorrow’s first wheel-to-wheel competition. After a mistake in the one and only practice session limited the Sauber Junior Team by Charouz driver to only three laps, Correa entered qualifying without proper testing of both car setups and track limitations.
We had a very tough day here in Barcelona as a mistake in Free Practice did not allow for very many laps at all,” explained Correa. “We entered qualifying a little blind and just a few push laps and no practice. We will analyze the data a bit as I did not feel comfortable out there.”
Correa added, “For tomorrow, I believe we will have to do another smart race. With a lot of tire degradation, we will have to play with our strategy and hopefully come away with some points when the race weekend ends.”
Race one on the weekend will take place on Saturday, May 11th at 1640 (GMT+2) or 10:40am (GMT-4) in the United States and will consist of 37 laps for a total of 172.234 kilometers. 36 laps totaling a race distance of 121.030 kilometers will go green on Sunday at 11:30 (GMT+2) or 5:30am (GMT-4) in the United States.
