A statement from Juan Manuel Correa
Updated: Apr 19
"I have some pretty bad news, so I wanted to share it with you: I have a metatarsal fracture in my left foot.
"As you know, a few weeks ago in Bahrain, during the race, I got some sharp pain in my left foot. We got it checked out, and it seemed to be tendon inflammation, so we gave it some rest.
"At the Jerez test, the pain came back. I did an MRI scan yesterday, and there is a stress fracture.
"I'm surprised and disappointed. I didn't think I would deal with more injuries – I had enough last year!
"The doctors have recommended a few weeks of rest, so let's see how it heals, and see how the pain improves.
There is no ELMS race for me next week, or any FIA F3 testing. As it stands, even Imola in F3 might be at risk.
We will try to push the recovery to race in Imola, but nothing is guaranteed.
I'm disappointed and sad. The season had started well, so we'll take the next steps as they come and make the best of it.
"Thank you to my teams who are already aware of the injury. They've supported me over a tough few days, and thank you to my fans for their support, as always.
"I'll keep you updated, and we'll do our best to return soon."
