Issue on Fastest Lap in Qualifying Forces Correa to Start P15 for Race 1

FIA Formula 2
2019 Season
Spa-Francorchamps

Competing at the 7.004-kilometer Circuit Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium this weekend, American Juan Manuel Correa had a less than happy qualifying session today.

After an issue in practice that limited his run time, a slick race surface on his fastest qualifying lap forced an increase in lap time and a P15 starting position for race one tomorrow. Never one to give up, Correa will push hard to advance forward and set himself up for a shot at a solid result in race two on Sunday.

“Quite a tough day here in Spa as we had an electrical issue in the free practice and then in qualifying, I almost went off on my fast lap,” explained Correa.

“We are not sure yet whether it was driver error, some oil on the track or something different. There were a few other drivers that spun around in the same corner so we have to check. It was not ideal as we were coming with enough of a delta to be in the top ten so we will start P15. The goal is as it has been in the past and try and work our way towards a top eight result and then push forward again on Sunday.”

With the first wheel-to-wheel action set to comment on Saturday at 16:10 (GMT+2), race two of the weekend will get underway Sunday at 11:15 (GMT +2).
On the east coast of the United States, race times will be 10:45am Saturday and 5:15am Sunday.
