American JM Correa qualifies at the front in Monza

2018 Season
Monza

Competing at one of the premier circuits in the world, American driver JM Correa had the pace for podium results at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza in Monza, Italy.

Piloting the #10 Jenzer Motorsport prepared machine, Correa found himself near the pointy end of the field, including an impressive fourth place effort in Friday’s qualifying session.

After claiming the eighth quickest lap time in the one and only delayed and shortened practice session due to weather, Correa turned up the wick in qualifying for one of his best performances of the season. Turning a quick lap of 1:38.181, the American was a scant .222 off the pole position and elusive inside front row starting position for the first wheel-to-wheel competition on the weekend.

From that point forward, the rest of the weekend would fall a part for Correa as contact resulting from other driver errors in both races hindered any chance of continuing his impressive run on the weekend.

“This was the most frustrating event of the season which started off well with a top-five in qualifying, but it all went terribly wrong in both races,” explained Correa.

“Both on track incidents were very much out of my control, and not only am I upset at the outcome, I feel terribly for the team who has worked so hard to deliver a competitive car. I will keep my head high and learn what I can from this weekend and take the positive note from qualifying as we look forward to our next event in Russia.”

The next GP3 Series event will take September 28-30 at the Sochi Autodrom in Sochi, Russia.

JM Correa would like to thank all his marketing partners who are on board in 2018. A special thank you to NOE Sushi Bar, Faico-Motriz, US Performance Academy, ACCUS and Bell Helmets.
